Don’t let the title fool you… yes it’s game day in Athens but I am currently blogging while the game is going on a couple miles down the road at Sanford Stadium. I’m not too big into football nor do I enjoy roasting in the heat wearing tight, dressy clothes. But hey I’m pretty proud to say that my roommate, Emma, -hey emma!- and I did tailgate for about an hour and attempted to go to the game. We realized once we got there just how hot and miserable we were and would be throughout the game so we opted to come home! Noah was excited 😉 I took him on a long walk and proceeded to clean the kitchen- am I weird? But I DO hope that Georgia plays well (fingers crossed) and I am hoping to go downtown tonight- it should be packed!
Sorry for the rambling but I just haven’t posted in forever! Last weekend I went home to Orlando for the first time in three months! It had felt like forever and was so refreshing to be home. My sister, Laura, and her hubby, Jon, were able to fly down from NYC as well. And of course Cameron drove home from Tally to join me for the weekend (I wasn’t complainin’ that’s for sure!) We all got our haircut at our favorite Salon Elysee by Kenny Mac (he’s amazing). And by all- I mean us four plus both my parents! Check it out (my parents left before we took this picture).
People tend to think Cameron and Jon are related rather than me and Laura! Haha, just for your information Cameron is half chinese while Jon is half chinese, half philippino. Yes we have a thing for Asians 🙂 Those two are the best though- we love em’!
Over the weekend my sister was talking about how she has been eating about 85% Vegan for a while now! I’m so proud of her- she says that eating less meat and dairy makes her feel better physically. She was also saying that she enjoys her meals more! She’s been experimenting with different recipes and dishes- I’m so proud of her. She made this awesome steel cut oatmeal for me, her, and Jon one of the mornings. I’ve been making it in Athens the past few mornings- it’s delicious!
Laura’s Steel Cut Oatmeal
- 1/4 cup steel cut oats (we used 5-minute variety)
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 tbsp chopped walnuts
- 2 chopped dates
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
Cook the steel cut oats according to directions- add 1/4 cup oats to 3/4 cup boiling water and reduce to a simmer. Stir occasionally for about 5-7 minutes. When the oats have thickened, add the chopped up dates, walnuts, and maple syrup. So quick and easy, yet super flavorful! I have thought about using dried apricots or something of the like as well.
Yesterday my sweet boy (no not you Cameron…) got his hair cut and I just have to share a couple photos. I’m pretty sure he knew how cute he looked because he was posing left and right for me! Get ready….
Is he not precious? By the way, I took that last picture while stopped at a red light on the way home from his haircut. He likes to take over the driver seat for sure… 🙂
Well since I started this post while the game was going on and left it for a couple hours, I’m sad to say that the Dawgs lost 😦 Only by two points so at least we fought! Dinner was also kind of an upset- snacked on random foods like chips and salsa, ended up making pancakes with ripe banana that turned out not very good. Hey, there’s always tomorrow. Just added a visit to the grocery store to the list of things to do tomorrow (also on the list: work out!) Hoping to do cardio and abs. I’ve been trying to increase the amount of times a week I work abs- I feel like I can see a difference already! If you have any suggestions on workouts you would like me to blog I would love to hear them. Love you guys!
